It may be possible in some cases that you already have the leap daemon / service running. You can check if this is running by looking at your system processes on Mac or services on Windows.
On Mac you will see a system level process named 'leapd'.
On Windows you will see a service process named 'LeapService'.

- Make sure your Leap Motion controller is plugged into your computer.
- Download and run the firmware reset tool from the Windows button below.
- Accept the driver installation.
- Press Enter. The tool will begin restoring your firmware.
- You will be prompted to unplug, and then reconnect your Leap Motion controller while the utility runs.

- Make sure your Leap Motion controller is plugged into your computer.
- Download the firmware reset tool from the Mac OSX button below.
- Double-click to open the dmg.
- Launch a Terminal window.
- Type: cd /Volumes/LM_FirmwareReset_Mac then press Enter/Return
- Type: ./FirmwareReset then press Enter/Return
- Make sure your Leap Motion controller is plugged into your computer.
- Press Enter/Return. The tool will begin restoring your firmware.
- You will be prompted to unplug, and then reconnect your Leap Motion controller while the utility runs.
