He has often said that academia has done a poor job on most subjects, especially psychology. The last aspect I would like to make a toast to is his liking of psychology. He is Vice-Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Corporation, the diversified investment corporation chaired by Warren Buffett; in this capacity, Buffett describes Charlie Munger as “my partner.
The last section of the book contains a nice primer on the common psychological biases and how they can blind you. This is likely the most important book I’ve read to date. A bit ridiculous if you ask me!

He uses that curiosity to be a deep generalist in business. There are…I might tell a story about a darling little girl, wispy blonde hair, beautiful curls, charming lisp. It blends economics with psychology, which I absolutely love.
He talks at length about psychology and how important it is and how it can be improved, along with lots of other broad ranging topics. Munger shares with us his wisdom and expound them with great examples.

Therefore, they choose to spend a lot of time making each decision with patience, and let the outcomes of those decisions compound. Maybe I’m just getting lucky at picking books or maybe I’m easy to please when it comes to books. And he is conscious of bettering himself daily; his mentors are the eminent dead: I’m not umnger praise Munger’s wisdom again. This volume is huge and the book is in a large, coffee table style format, making it hard to read or put in your bag.
You want to deliver to the world what you would charli if you were on the other end. He keeps returning to these themes, which is fair enough, it’s mostly a compilation of his speeches, not his fault someone decided to put these together into a book, but why would the editor of the book assemble a bunch of speeches that are more or less redundant?
I swear I ended up carving out a chunk of time to finish this book just because I found it annoying to deal with. In terms of investing, this concept of saving your attention for the big idea is developed further by the image of the twenty-hole punch card.

Most people don’t grab the almxnac ideas or don’t know what to do with them. Munger practises some of the strongest morals I’ve seen since Franklin. Charlie also doesn’t believe in retirement, he adheres to the not so pervasive mantra that you should partake in activities until death. You’d be amazed at how much Warren [Buffett] reads — at how much I chzrlie. Mozart became the most famous composer in the world but was utterly miserable most of the time, and one of the reasons was because he always overspent his income.

We have the priceless benefit of other people’s experience, conveniently compiled into books, so why should we learn all of life’s hard lessons ourselves?
You’ve poured effort and money in.
So for all who love mental models, frameworks and behavioral phenomenons in general. Charles Thomas Munger is an American business magnate, lawyer, investor, and philanthropist. It’s extremely rare and generous!
Although money is the main driver among rewards, it is not the only reward that works. Do be prepared for an almost fan-boy level of love for Benjamin Franklin.

B) Adding success factors so that a bigger combination drives success, often in nonlinear fashion, as one is reminded by the concept if breakpoint and the concept of critical mass in physics.
C) An extreme of good performance over many factors.
D) Catching and riding some sort of big wave.

(2) – Learn and use the basic elements pf your advisor’s trade as you deal with your advisor
(3) Double-check, disbelieve or replace much of what you’re told, to the degree that seems appropriate after objective thought.
-Bad behavior is intensely habit-forming when it is rewarded
-Dread, and avoid as much you can, rewarding people for what can be easily faked.
-Some people use money to buy status and others use status to get money, while still others sort of do both things at the same time.
-Although money is the main driver among rewards, it is not the only reward that works. People also change their behavior and cognition for sex, friendship, companionship, advancement in status, and other non-monetary items.

-One very practical consequence of liking/loving tendency is that it acts as a conditioning device that makes the liker or lover tend to (1) to ignore faults of, and comply with wishes if, the object of his affection., (2) to favor people, products, and actions merely associated with the object of his affection & (3) to distort other facts to facilitate love.
3.Disliking/Hating Tendency
-Disliking/Hating Tendency also acts as a conditioning device that makes the disliker/hater tend to (1) ignore virtues in the object of dislike, (2) dislike people, products, and actions merely associated with the object of his dislike, (3) distort other facts to facilitate hatred.
4.Doubt-Avoidance Tendency
-The brain of man is programmed with tendency to quickly remove doubt by reaching some decision.
-What usually triggers this tendency is some combination of (1) puzzlement and (2) stress. And both of these factors naturally occur in facing religious issues. Thus, the natural state of most men is in some form of religion. And this is what we observe.
5.Inconsistency-Avoidance Tendency
-The brain of man conserves programming space by being reluctant to change, which is a form of inconsistency avoidance.
-It is much easier to prevent a habit than to change it
-Anti-change mode was caused by a combination of (1) It facilitated faster decisions when speed of decision was an important contribution to the survival of nonhuman ancestors that were prey.
(2) It facilitated the survival advantage that our ancestors gained by cooperating in groups, which would have been more difficult to do if everyone was always changing responses.
(3) It was the best form of solution that evolution could get to in the limited number if generations between the start of literacy and today’s complex modern life.

-In advanced human civilization, culture greatly increases the effectiveness of curiosity in advancing knowledge.
7.Kantian Fairness Tendency
-The “golden rule” requires humans to follow behavioral patterns that, if followed by all others, would make the surrounding human system work best for everybody.
8.Envy/Jealousy Tendency
-“It is not greed that drives the world, but envy.”

-Some of the most important miscalculations come from what is accidentally associated with one’s past success, or one’s liking and loving, or one’s disliking and hating, which includes a natural hatred for bad news.
